Birthday Pictures

Close up of the cake. Xavier had a great day at his party and really enjoyed playing with friends and all the other birthday stuff.

"While no one is looking...I'll stick my finger in the cake..." It's better than his original plan...While cutting the cake, I looked down to find him leaning in with his tongue out.

Playing follow the leader. It was amazing that these 2 year olds were so quick to follow a 7 year old. I asked his parents if I could borrow him for a week.

They were too quick to agree so I withdrew my petition.

Now I'm not so sure that the kids weren't just imitating the pinata. They really loved it and I was so glad when it actually worked (only one string opens it - it's great for small kids - but there are lots of strings to pull. Though one father asked that we bring out the bat next year or even a stick. He's right. It just isn't the same without hitting it and singing the pinata song.)

Here's a picture after the pinata was opened. I'm not so sure I should have put lollipops in the pinata...??

Opening a present and playing with one of many new toys.

At the end of the party Xavi had to do a happy feet dance.

Happy Birthday to Xavi

He fell asleep tonight (2 birthday cupcakes later) saying "Happy Birthday to Xavi". Cupcakes were at daycare (I'll get pictures to post). We went out to dinner at the end of the day and Xavi blew out the votive candle at our table and said Happy Birthday, YAY! And clapped - he even got some of the waiters to clap with him. Tomorrow is another cake and candle day.

Blog Name Change

Many of you already know that we are expecting another baby in February. I wanted to wait to post this until I broke the news at work. Now that that's done here is the first baby picture.

We've told Xavier but he doesn't seem to get it yet. We'll keep working on it. We will change the blog title, but may also change the address. I won't do it until October, so let me know if you want the new address. Until the arrival of baby #2, there will be more posts about Xavi - especially next weekend after the birthday bash! And I'll post the gender when we find out...so stay tuned. Eventually Xavi will have to share the blog with his new brother or sister.

Last Day with Mami

The three of us are enjoying the long weekend before it's back to daycare and work on Tuesday. One last walk through M Park for Xavi and mami on Friday. Last day on our own. Papi began work two weeks ago so Xavi and I have bonded over made up songs about bubble baths and the alphabet and real songs from the movie Happy Feet - most notably: "Jump and Move".
