The morning of her birthday Carolina opened presents from her oma and grandpa and her tia Lala. Some books, a puzzle, a cute spring outfit among other things. We gave her this stroller which she LOVED!
She even wanted to sit with it...

There haven't been any posts while Daniel is on crutches, I know...but responsibilities are overflowing right now. I'm hoping to get back on right in time for Carolina's 2nd b-day. While we're on the subject of being 2...I will describe some recent 2 year old activity/drama -- and there is plenty of drama. Ms. Lina has been experiencing hysterical crying fits - I'm sure related to terrible two's and will soon pass....right? She places both hands on her cheeks and sobs hysterically, sometimes she walks over to the mirror and watches herself cry for a few minutes. Sometimes this also involves throwing objects and biting...we all just step away. Xavi on the other hand has been well behaved and very helpful, but I do have some minor concerns...there's a lot of gun talk and pretend shooting. He talks about "deading" things too. We're discouraging the behavior but also hearing that it's not abnormal for a boy his age to want to shoot guns or wield swords. Just reread that...hmm, sounds disturbing. Let me put it some context. He's also the most gentle, empathetic, happy child and we're not the only ones who think so. His teachers all agree and say he is by far the least interested in weaponry and violence in his classroom.
Xavi is also learning to negotiate. Always asking for 5 more minutes (play time, bath time or anything else he enjoys) or asking for rewards before doing his good deed. His sister is catching on very quickly. This morning I asked if she had a poopy diaper and said yes. When I told her we had to change it she held up her hand and made a "wait" motion and said "one minute" - I think she actually rolled her eyes at me! Daniel and I just looked at each other and laughed in shock. We couldn't help it. Other new phrases: how are you, look at me, Xavi stop screaming and anything we say she repeats. She says "Xavi big" when she feels bullied and "me do it" when she wants to do something on her own. They like to "sing" together and their conversations are a riot! I'll have to remember one and put it on the blog.
