dinner time!

I did it! I finally figured out how to get a video on the blog!! YAY! However, the quality is quite poor and papi's phone rings loudly in the middle of filming. We'll have to try it again later this week...but for now, enjoy a short video of Xavier eating peas for the first time. They're mixed with his rice cereal...in case you were wondering why it looks so yucky.

Happy Chinese New Year!

What a busy weekend! After a day of shopping and a date on Saturday, we went on to attend a very nice Chinese New Year's party at the home of Teddy's family (Teddy is in Daniel's M. Lab group) . Thanks to Teddy and his parents for having us over! This was the perfect opportunity for Xavier to wear one of his new outfits. This one is from The Red Balloon. It was a hit!

At first he just sat around and tried to follow the conversation, but soon he was laughing it up with the crowd. He apparently had some pretty funny jokes to tell.

He made his rounds and enjoyed the celebration.

By the end of the night he was a little too relaxed and was kicking up his feet and trying to steal some food. We had to send him off to bed soon after. He thanks everyone for an enjoyable night out.

Growing like a weed

Ok, so this morning I dressed Xavier in a 3-6 month romper. Tell me, am I in denial? It's worse when he sits, he had to suck in his belly to get it to button up...just kidding!



At 20 weeks I have had to put away his 3-6 month clothes and pull out the 6-9 month clothes. Is 20 weeks offically 5 months or do I have to wait until February 7 to call it 5 months? February is a short month anyway, so he's really only a month early in making the switch. His feet are also size HUGE...




Really though we are just happy he is so "healthy". Here is another picture in something that actually fits. We'll post pictures later of some of his favorite 6-9 month clothes.

Travieso?

So it's been a week since the last blog update and we've been busy. Xavier has had a bad cold and is having trouble sleeping - poor guy. That hasn't stopped him from being his usual mischievious and social self. Despite the cold, he went out to dinner with his fathers lab group and was passed around the table as he chatted everyone up. He probably did a great job of passing his cold around the table as well. Mami and papi were not prepared and have no pictures to show for it. However, on the mischievious side...he somehow managed to sneak his mami's pen when she looked away for a second and this is what he did with it...take a close look...Tiene cara de yo no fui. Xavier learns to eat!

Who knew rice cereal would be so delicious? Originally, Xavier was not all that interested, but in recent weeks he has really seemed to enjoy his evening meal. He now gets excited when he sees his bowl and spoon...we think he knows that it is his mealtime. In these pictures you can sort of tell that he is leaning toward the spoon for more, but we have also shot a few short videos of him eating this week. We took the advice of a friend, Liz (mom to Matthew, almost 3, and Madeleine, 5 1/2 months) and added sweet potatoes to his diet this week, which he really seems to like.

He has also started trying to help with meals. He usually uses his hands to get the spoon to his mouth faster...hmmm sounds like he is going to eat like an Anello - FAST. We try to discourage his help with the feedings because, of course, the cereal inevitably ends up on his feet, his high chair, his hair, his mother's hair...essentially everywhere. We will try to figure out how to get these videos on the blog, with the help of Pippi's mom, Marna. We thought Pippi's mom was a master at this craft until she told us that actually Daisy's mom was the real master. One final picture...for tonight. This is one of Xavier's many outfits sent from his aunt and cousins in Bali. They were sent when he was tiny and we recently discovered that these one-piece rompers now fit perfectly and are very comfy. He has three!! Thanks again, aunt Nancy, Putu and Sam!! We know the hat doesn't exactly match, but it may not fit his big head for long, so he should wear it any opportunity he can.

This is one of our favorite pictures and one we were lucky to capture...he can't sit for long before his head pulls him towards the floor, but it's a start.

Since finding his thumb, this is one of his favorite new pastimes. He can actually fall asleep on his own by simply turning on his side and sucking on his thumb. So... although we were concerned about this at first, it has been a godsend at night when we don't have to do much to get him to fall asleep.
