3 Months Old

Carolina is now 3 months old (and 13 1/2 weeks). She smiles a lot in between her serious looks, but it's hard to catch those smiles.

Here's what we've been up to recently. I'm back at work so she hangs out with tia Lala all day. Sometimes she sleeps and sometimes she plays in her excersaucer.

Or in her swing in new outfits. But 3-6 month clothes are starting to fit snug...She weighs more than a few plates of tacos Sabinas.

Xavi joined Sarai for Chicago's summer breeze and jumped around, played with balloon dogs, and ate popcorn.

We've been back to the park and have done much better with two kids and one parent - thanks to Jenny and Sarai. I think J has pictures.

And below is a recent video of typical car rides. All we're missing is the spotting of fire trucks, school buses or garbage trucks. Carolina sat quietly behind me through this whole video...I think she was sleeping.

Dolphin Show: Part Dos

This time we went with my sisters, Gude and Gris, and - of course- baby Sofia. Lala missed out due to midterms so we'll have to return at the end of June! We saw mostly dolphins and polar bears on this trip. There was a quick trip to the monkey house for Xavi while the baby girls had an early lunch.

The zoo and Dolphin show were a huge hit with xavi and now he wants to go back every day! Unfortunately his sister does not tolerate the drive in her car seat all that well. When she cried he just looked at her like she was ruining his outing - until he saw the zoo signs and then he just pointed them all out and excitedly ignored her.

Here are a few video clips from the trip. It's a little long and includes some good footage of breaches for the dolphin lovers out there. Please no comments about my silly dancing.

After lunch we went home and Xavi napped while the girls just hung around.

The following day, after picking Xavi up from school and screaming (loudly) for about 10 minutes, Carolina found her thumb! Xavi sucked his thumb at about the same age - in early December on our way to a x-mas party - right after turning 12 weeks. I snapped a picture and it became our 2005 x-mas card.

That's what Xavi repeats at least a million times when I tell him we're going to the zoo, which we have done twice in the last week and a half. Here's part one: with anello grandparents. The highlight was, of course, the dolphin show. Will post Dolphin Part Dos later in the week.

Tuesday morning

I think Xavi was trying to talk her out of the swing this morning. Wasn't sure why...until a little later. On my own for a few days, well not really - reinforcements arrived this morning after D left last night on b-trip. Oma and gramps will be around to help, but in the meantime it was a rough night for the three of us. We, as you can tell from these pictures, handled the am much better. Though I did send my poor son off to school in jeans on an 80+ degree day! Gotta change him into something cooler.

This am he looked at his poopy diaper and said "ohhh" and I said yeah, that's yucky and he said "ohhhh, that sucks". Got that right...still, we need to watch the words that come out of our mouths - we have been lucky so far to only hear "that sucks".

In these pictures Xavi is 9 weeks old and Caro is 10 weeks. We have these two pictures framed side by side in our living room. The little cream puff will be 11 weeks this coming Monday. I have just a couple more weeks with her before I'm back at work, but she will be hanging out with tia Lala for the 5 short weeks I'm back at work.

On the speaking front, Xavi usually just tells us what he wants and doesn't want, but recently he likes to disagree with us or tries to be funny. He even tried to tell us a knock knock joke, but only knew the first line. It went like this:

"Knock, knock" - Xavi
(parents exchange a shocked look and answer) " Who's there?"
"Who's there" - Xavi
"Boo" - Parents
"Boo" - Xavi
"Boo who?" - parents
"Boo who?" - Xavi
"Knock, Knock" - Xavi
You get the picture...now he says "no crying" after boo who.
