I've had some complaints...about not posting! So here we are a few days late. We have a good excuse though; we have been out of commission with the stomach flu.
I had a lot of video clips I was trying to go through and decided on showing Xavier's favorite games.
Talking on the phone
Making animal noises
Singing and dancing
Enjoy!

be careful what you wish for...
So all my worrying about Xavi not talking and now this...
This morning Xavi and his dad dropped me off at work, right at the front door. However, there was one double parked car blocking the empty loading zone area and another car trying to fit in a space that was half its size. So one parent said we can't move forward because of all the stupid people in the way and then we heard Xavi say STUPID from the back seat. We looked at each other and asked: Did you hear that? Did he say stupid? No, he couldn't have. He must have said stop it. They're his new favorite words. He loves saying "stop it", "nooo, stop", or just "stop". That must be what he said. But then we looked at each other again (ok, and laughed a little bit)and agreed that he said stupid. We gotta stop saying those words around him...but if he does say them we can't give him ANY kind of reaction. It's like the new skipping thing he does...it never stops because he always gets a reaction. I think I have video of the skipping, stop and down...I'll try to get it on the blog soon. FYI, Stupid will not make it on the blog.

New Tricks
This has been a stressful week for me. Xavier started at a day care twice a week last Wednesday, so I've been busy worrying. I'm almost done. Now I can finally post again. I have random video shots I've been working on and will post them shortly. Aside from starting day care, which he loves, Xavier has learned a few new tricks. I will let the video show you what he's up to, but will describe what we didn't capture on video. This morning we found Xavier, still in his crib (good), but almost completely undressed (bad). Socks, PJ pants and top were gone and he was working on the diaper. I'm not sure when he figured out how to get out of long sleeved shirts with no buttons? I've seen him take off shoes, socks, pants and shirts with buttons or velcro, but never over-his -(big) head long sleeved shirts! Oma better not mention any wall art, because that's what I'm worried about! Wouldn't Tante be proud? He hasn't quite figured out the diaper tabs because he gets so frustrated, all he does is pull on the diaper. Point is we can't leave him on his own too long...for this and other reasons....watch the video.
Oh and day care is going well so far.

16 Months
Life with a 16 month old is puzzling. In so many ways. First, planning his social outings is a challenge. Every weekend morning is a struggle as we try to figure out what we will do that day. It has become quite common in our house to ask "what's the plan for today?" Because we always need to do something to keep parents, and child, happy and sane.
We can also never guess what's going on...with teething, eating, sleeping, speaking.
A few weeks ago it was obvious he was in a lot of teething pain, but no teeth. Today, out of the blue, we discovered tooth number 8, the last of the bottom four - now his smile will finally be symmetrical. I won't get into the eating and sleeping, because sometimes he does these well and sometimes he doesn't...no rhyme or reason.
Occasionally he has moments of many words and then they disappear...completely. We've heard him say chocolate, wait a minute, what's that, and a few others, but only once (maybe twice). This morning we had breakfast with Becky and Dylan. Dylan has lots of words. Spoon, bagel, cookie, more, hat. He says them often and without prompting. We were impressed...maybe more like worried? About Xavier's failed hearing tests...or could it be because he's bilingual? So hard to tell at this stage. Then all of a sudden Xavier says more and bagel...just because his buddy Dylan said it (or to prove us wrong in public, Becky and I agreed this happens sometimes). Haven't heard bagel again, but we have heard more. At dinner when he wanted more chicken! Thanks Dylan! You taught Xavier a word and he loved playing with you today. He cried all the way down the street when you walked away.
In the afternoon we gave the backyard a try...
