Hapy Halloween!

"All the houses are the scary houses...booooooo!" That's what Xavi said on his way to the docs office. Unfortunately, he's had a pretty high fever since the day before yesterday. He stayed home yesterday and today - with a doc visit today. He felt a lot better today and when the dr declared him infection-free we headed to his classroom to enjoy the Halloween Parade.
In this picture you can see all three of his teachers, all of whom he ADORES! There are two in the back, however, the one he is standing next to is his favorite and some days, even prefers her to mami!

He came home with me and we're resting up now in preparation for a party for all the 2-3 year olds in our dorm (there are 5 boys! The Maxkateers) He's so excited about that. There are also 4 babies approximately Caro's age. They include an 11 month old, 9 month old, caro - 8 months- and a 2 month old. She will have plenty of playmates too and Xavi has decided she can join him at the party. Then we're heading out trick or treating! It's a 60 degree plus day so we can't wait to get out there. Tomorrow we have another halloween party with all the baby cousins from Norma's side of the fam. Oh and the update on Caro is that she has started to let go after she pulls up and stands for a second or two before the plop happens. She has also decided she's done with mashed up food and insists on eating what we eat. She ate about a 1/4 of a quesadilla the other day and likes chicken noodle soup (carrots, celery, noodles and all, but hates whole peas?!) She waves bye bye and likes to dance with her friend P. from school. Pictures from her daycare party should be up later also.

8 Months and Verde

Carolina is definitely crawling. She's also pulling up on furniture and even trying to cruise! This makes for a lot of injuries, three in a row right before bedtime today - all to her face! Poor thing. She gets over it and keeps right on trucking. I had her ears pierced today and she looks adorable! The problem is that Xavi is more jealous than ever and he said he needed some too. He always needs whatever she has. I don't think I ever expected it to be this bad. There are times when I just don't know what to do with him because he seens to always be trying to sit on her. We're each trying to spend a lot of quality time with him to help him through this phase. We're working on letter recognition and he's learning his colors in Spanish and doing really well with both. His favorite letters are, amazingly, x and c (x is for xavi and c is for carolina).

I can't find the camera charger so there are no pictures! We are making it a priority to find it...soon!

This is what we look like when we walk to daycare in the am...or walk back in the pm. This am I joined Xavi for a trip to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch with his class. He got to eat some great apples but he was looking foward to picking one himself and that, he never did. So there will be another trip next weekend. Xavi demanded we carve at least one of the pumpkins we brought back and then wanted to sleep with it. It's sitting on his bookshelf next to his bed. That would creep me out in the middle of the night but he said it's a happy pumpkin.

This is most of his class...he was cranky because he wanted to get going already. Speaking of going...Carolina is finally going. I will post a video below when I edit it. It's too long, but I did get some footage of her crawling. She has a friend at daycare who is two weeks older and they apparently have races to get to the best toys and then climb over each other!

I lied and didn't edit because it took so long for her to move from one place to another. She actually does crawl in a more conventional way, but in this video she gets to where she wants to go by doing some funny stuff. I'll try to get a better video later.

More Milestones

I checked back to Xavi's old posts...

Apparently Xavi completely figured out crawling and sitting up at 7.5 months but he pulled to standing a bit before that. Caro is about to hit that mark this weekend. Let's see what happens. I am so glad I've blogged for the last almost 2 years! The things I would have forgotten.

I wrote that last night and today at nap time she pulled to standing - there, of course, was no pm nap after that! She also insists on eating solid food and will make a grab for it when she has the chance. So we have started giving her cheerios and fruit and veggie puffs, along with (soft) food we make for ourselves. She has managed to take Xavi's milk-filled sippy cup a few times and has decided she likes regular milk also. Her father would like to us to make the switch now but obviously it's too soon. The second born really does have a different life.

Xavi is talking as much as ever and loves his sister...most of the time...still ok on the potty, except for #2, sigh.
