Monday

No, I won't be posting everyday now that I'm on vacation! But today has been an interesting day.
We drove up to Lincoln Park Zoo and Xavi "read" on the way up...something he does more and more these days. He seems more grown up and I'm not sure how I feel about that. He also walked around a lot at the zoo and pointed out the lions and tigers and penguins and monkeys...by name. It was amazing. I knew he knew the names of all those animals it was just great to see him use/remember it in the real world. The fact that he wanted to walk made him seem so much less like a baby too. BTW, he also now has two of the four cuspids or #4s - on the upper and the lower leftside.

When we came home he took a 2.5 hour nap in his twin bed. Two nights ago he fell asleep in his bed, though he's been threatening to do it every night when he hops up there, covers himself up and says night night. These pictures are from that night. He looked so small in the bed and I worried about him falling...not so much rolling off, but stumbling off in the middle of the night. Or jumping off because he might decide to wake up and play. So I moved him back into his crib, which he looks kind of big in.

So at nap time I decided it was as good a time as any to start...I had to decide that because D was already on board. When Xavi woke up he sat in bed and waited for me to get him. The test run had gone well. In my mind I thought we could do naps there for the next month or so and then try night sleeping in the twin bed...but it was D's turn to tuck him in and Xavi turned to his dad in the middle of a book and said night night and went right to sleep. This picture is from a few minutes ago, sleeping with a clown fish and a penguin, one on each side. I guess he stays there for now, but I won't be sleeping so comfortably tonight. We'll see how it goes.

Another G-Friend, Bixler and Meeting Harry...

Here's a picture of one of Xavier's favorite lady friends - a friend from B-school. This is from graduation.

Hanging out with Sarai at Bixler. He has two favorite girls at daycare, Sarai and Skyler. Haven't seen Skyler but he's so very happy to hang out with Sarai as often as possible. Too bad we won't see her for a bit, especially because he keeps asking for her. We'll see you in July!
These are picture from our office's end of year party. The kids had so much fun because they met Harry. Harry may have made them laugh hysterically but he made the parents very nervous. I mean look at the size of him. He was galloping around the yard and it looked like Harry might run him over a few times. Every time Harry ran past Xavi (grazing him on every pass) Xavi just laughed and barked and panted to mimic him. Another crying scene ensued when we left.

More: Hog Wild

Here are pictures from Jenny's camera...she really went crazy taking pictures. I picked the best, but there were many good ones. I've split them into peaceful and not so peaceful moments. Starting with peaceful in the kiddie pool.

There's some splashing and lot of dancing. In some Xavi is naked and in others it's Sarai.

Then there was mealtime. Here are the happy times

There were also a few minutes spent watching Nemo. Good times.

More eating...

Here is a sharing moment. Xavi was happy to share his car and push Sarai around in it.
Then there were the hugs.

Here are the not so happy moments.

Not wanting to share his car, for example.

And fighting for no apparent reason.

Fighting for food - this lasted a while. They both apparently wanted the same hotdog.

I'm not sure what kind of moment this was. Somewhere in the middle? "I can't have my car and I don't want to share...I'll just use it at the same time?" It wasn't as much fun as riding in it so he left it to her.

Here is the part about mommies gone hog wild. Jenny wasn't really attacked by the babies...but I think you may have guessed it. So we'd had a long week. Jenny had been packing all week and was hanging out with us so the movers could do their job and Sarai could have some fun. I...don't think I have any excuse...but I did bbq some lunch? and it WAS hot...so it seemed like a good way to cool off. At least the kids had fun splashing around with their mommies.

Babies (& mommies?) Go Hog Wild!

Summer vaca has begun! And with it comes the kiddie pool. We had a pool party today with friend Sarai (and mommy) to celebrate - and to help get them out of the house to move. It was an awesome day. Xavi woke up from his nap and said, "mami outside Sarai", because we had an early start to this party and it did go most of the day. I'll start at the end and work my way backwards (because that's the way I uploaded these picturs!). Xavi learned that sharing is caring.
Not shown here, but he actually decided to share his car with Sarai and then he pushed her around the yard. The other pic is the baby attack on one mommy. Poor Jenny she never had a chance. I tell you, these kids are rough.

Here they are splashing around. He was so tired at the end of the day - he seriously passed out at bedtime.

Thanks Jenny and Sarai for the best day ever...and for an easy bedtime.

Here's a shot of the test day. The day after we got the kiddie pool he walked arounf it and tested the waters.
Now that he has decided he loves the pool he just jumps right in.

Other backyard fun, earlier in the week.

Another fav, riding the bike, sometimes with the helmet on and sometimes no helmet.
