11 Months Old

Can you believe it? Xavier is 11 months old today. He is looking and acting less and less like a baby these days. In many ways it feels like he has entered toddlerhood a little early, for us. He is walking and running around all over the place. He picks a ball up and throws it...or kicks it like he has seen his dad and uncles do. He gives you a high five or reaches to give you his hand when you ask him to. And the definition of toddlerhood? Negativity must be in there somewhere, as well as the testing of limits. He loves to shake his head no (all the time) and will point to things he can't touch and questioningly ask with a shake of his head if he's allowed to go there. When you respond that he's not, he laughs as he throws himself into whatever is not allowed (this weekend it was pile of extension cords). When we try to hold his hand as he walks he pulls it away like he's way too big to have it held. I won't even get into the tantrums.

Oh, and by the way, meet Hollywood John... P.S. His hair is starting to curl...and yes it does need to be trimmed again.

Xavier loves to play with his new car, loves peekaboo and dancing. Here is a clip of how he plays these days.

Girlfriends

And I don't mean girls that are friends. I've been embarrassed to post this link, but Xavier's new found pastime is nothing to be ashamed of, I've decided. He likes to kiss people. Ok, specifically little girls. Sorry, Pippi, there are others. Since these pictures went online he has also met and kissed 3 year old Joclyn and 2 ½ year old Isa. He thinks they (the girlfriends) are fantastic! He stares at them, smiles, bats his eyelashes. He’d wink if he knew how. We all know who he takes after in this behavior. Pretty soon he’ll be looking up little girls’ dresses. Ok....click on this link. Pippi's parents have forgiven us, but I'm not sure if they will ever allow them to see each other again...and it's not just because they are moving to CT.

Sigh...Teething

We can almost hear the teeth coming in...the bebe is restless and very fussy...so what we are actually hearing is him tossing and turning and, occasionally, crying in his sleep. He finally has one tooth, botton front, and another is coming in. Poor guy...he hasn't been sleeping well, this whole week and how much longer?

He has also, finally, learned to clap (properly...for those that know his weird hand-slap clap)
He is also shaking his head to say no and sometimes also shakes his index finger at the same time, kinda like his abuela does to him when he is being bad.
He has mastered standing up unassisted...because he falls so often. We have been watching and think it's because he tries to run...on his tip toes. When he takes his time he sorta looks like his dad when he walks. M, is this the way D walked when he first learned?
