More Milestones

I checked back to Xavi's old posts...

Apparently Xavi completely figured out crawling and sitting up at 7.5 months but he pulled to standing a bit before that. Caro is about to hit that mark this weekend. Let's see what happens. I am so glad I've blogged for the last almost 2 years! The things I would have forgotten.
I wrote that last night and today at nap time she pulled to standing - there, of course, was no pm nap after that! She also insists on eating solid food and will make a grab for it when she has the chance. So we have started giving her cheerios and fruit and veggie puffs, along with (soft) food we make for ourselves. She has managed to take Xavi's milk-filled sippy cup a few times and has decided she likes regular milk also. Her father would like to us to make the switch now but obviously it's too soon. The second born really does have a different life.

Xavi is talking as much as ever and loves his sister...most of the time...still ok on the potty, except for #2, sigh.

Pre-School App

Is in. Received letter of acknowledgement..."Thanks for applying...we're being nice just in case your 3 year old passes all of our tests and is admitted...." Blah, blah, blah.

Next Step: Must schedule two hour school tour and parent interview. Will WE pass the test!??

milestones, sort of...

Crawling? Sort of. It's what I like to call crawling in place. Doesn't seem possible, but it is. She moves her knees the right way but never goes forward because she doesn't have the arm movement down yet. She can get around a bit by doing an army crawl of sorts. She gets on all fours moves one arm forward and then drops down a few inches from where she started. Here's the real milestone, which Xavi didn't get until after he could pull to standing which was about 8 months (I think? the things you forget, will have to check previous posts). She can SIT UP. We find her sitting up in the middle of the night or before/after naps. We keep telling her that sleep doesn't work very well while sitting. She turned 7 months this past Thursday and we think she will be in full crawling mode by the time she is 8 months, maybe sooner? Yikes! In watching her do this we are amazed at the differences between our two kids, not just what age they start doing different things but also their personality as they accomplish these milestones.

Xavi's milestone is wearing underwear. He is pretty much trained on the pp front. It's the "brown one" (as he likes to call it) that is the problem. We seem able put him on the potty before it happens on the weekends but we sent hime to school in underwear and had three accidents! His poor teachers. We're back to pull ups at school. He'll go completely by himself if he wears nothing at all, but for obvious reasons that is not possible the majority of the time. Here is is working on one. Sorry, but even this is cute to us.

Happy Three Birthday Xavi!

What a wonderful party, Xavi had a fabulous time. Everytime one of his friends showed up he screamed with excitement. He told me exactly who should be invited and what we should eat. He reviewed everything on a weekely basis and made me write it down, then asked "which one is (fill in the name of his friend)" from a sheet of paper. He asked for spaghetti and meatballs, pizza, strawberries, potato chips, and cupcakes. We tried a cupcake place called Cupcakes and it was a hit.

One of his presents.

Below is another present...the last one and the one the kids rushed at me and demanded I read to them! This is us counting. Each number is a punch...don't ask...I think it's something from school. Will have to ask about that.
