Meet Priscilla the Pug

Xavi did and fell in love...not sure why? Oh, but she's so sweet. Aunt Tsubasa came through with a few pics of the second meeting. Anyway, he wanted to walk the dog and when he did his smile was huge. When we had to leave he cried real tears...cause he CAN fake it when he wants to. Here are the happy moments.

Other news:

Four new teeth are keeping us up at night. Only occasionally, but it's hard when we've slowly gotten used to sleeping at night! This time it's the cuspids or #3s. A little late than the norm, but considering how late the others have been, not surprising. To recap, he has all #s 1, 2, and 4s.

Potty training feels like it's going nowhere, fast. With all I've heard about boys being slower than girls, it makes me want to give up. Recently, I've heard a few mothers say their boys were potty trained by 2.5 though AND we've had some clues that Xavi understands how it's done, so we'll keep trying. One morning he said to his dad, "pee pee now" but when he got close to the bathroom ran away scared and peed in the diaper a few minutes later. Same thing with # 2, went in the bathroom on his own and put his seat on the toilet and said "mami, caca" but ran away scared and did his business behind his rocking chair. Another day he threw me out of the bathroom (but I peeked in, of course), he leaned on the toilet and yelled "PEE PEE", then said "bye, pee pee" and threw tp in the toilet. When I checked his (VERY recently changed) diaper it was wet. We'll take it slow, won't push him if he doesn't want to but keep encouraging him to use the bathroom.

He has a lot of new words and I can't remember any right now - though "NOW" stands out as a more recent development. He communicates very well and is less whiny when he wants something. He usually just asks for it. It helps that he usually wants the same things...milk, pacifier, water, rice, chicken, eggs, blueberries. He's totally a toddler and set in his ways and foods. At least he hasn't decided to only eat beige food or something like that, not yet anyway.

Oh and he does a funky dance when he's happy or wants to impress the ladies, usually 3 and up.

Xavi's got the blues...read on

The weather has been nice again and that means lots of playing outside, for Xavi, and running after him for me. I'm beat. So I haven't been very good about the blog. I've heard it from tia Lala, so here is a picture, video and update. The picture is in the backyard. No matter how late we return home he has to have a quick run around the yard or a spin in the stroller or new bike.

What's on th video? Mostly names. He has since moved on to naming parts of the body. If I ask where his shoes are he'll show them to me, but I shouldn't ask where his feet are because he has to take off his shoes and socks to show me that. Cause I might not know that they're under there. On this particular video, he says hello - I'm not sure how and why he's picked this up now. He names his friends from daycare and his friends from sesame street. And he tells his father to stop it. He does it all from behind the camera because he wants to shoot the video...There's also a video of him dribbling a ball, his father has started training early. (You should be able to see the video by Monday morning.)

Brand new developments: This morning he politely asked for his milk and a nap (night night). He also ate a whole 6 oz package of blueberries by himself at the store while we shopped. We thought he had dropped them all over the store. When we retraced our steps we realized we were in for some very blue poop.

Happycountingchocolate

Some footage of counting attempts, his obsession with the movie Happy Feet and with chocolate (pudding, in this case). He also talks about uncle Joey being arriba (upstairs). Enjoy!
