Moving Craziness

We're moving and surrounded in mess - fortunately it's less than 15 blocks away. Don't have time or space for pictures, but here's one while Caro and I took a break. We'll finish up here and travel to see the grandparents in NY so that may be the next time there are more pictures. Oh and it's starting to get chilly already...in August! What's that about?

AND I missed her 6 month appt in this craziness so we'll have to wait until September to post stats for her, but I'll also have Xavi's three year stats by then!

Two Things

It turns out that Caro was upset about her milk because her ear was bothering her...she was tugging at it the rest of the day and still today. I took her in to see the doc and they (doc, intern, med student!) said it wasn't an ear infection, thankfully, but she did have fluid in her ear that could be bothering her just as much. Will go away on it's own.

Though Caro sits very well these days (better picture to the left), she doesn't crawl. Here is the problem: you can't leave her sitting on her own because she will lunge at some object or person (read: Xavi) and land on her face. I sit close to her or hold her hand to catch her before the face plant when she's on the floor. When she's on the bed or some other soft surface I let her go to see how/what she does. Still hates being on her belly and will roll back onto her tummy. She will occassionally roll over onto her belly when she is trying to reach something. Then roll back onto her back. She may skip crawling, I've decided. Really shows no interest at all right now.

caro's update

So in a couple of weeks Caro has gone from being a wobbly sitter to a stable sitter. I am still amazed at how quickly babies hit these milestones in their first year. She can also pick up objects and pass them from one hand to the other and she has moved on to #2 jar baby food. It's early I know, but there are some days she doesn't even want milk - like today. Every time she looked at her bottle she cried. I thought it was her teeth but at her age Xavi had moved on to 5 ounces of milk at a sitting. I think it's related to the reflux. Her pediatrician moved her to Prevacid when I said she wasn't doing that well on the Zantac. But the Prevacid didn't work at all - it was like she wasn't even on medication. So back to Zantac she went. It relieved the discomfort enough that she started eating solids agian (she had stopped while on the Prevacid). Solids are the key, I think. Now she throws up like Xavi did as a newborn, which is much more manageable. She has a few bad days but they don't compare to the days of changing her clothes 10-15 times a day - no joke! Now on a bad day I may change her 2-4 times, on good days not at all! I hear the more "solid" her food becomes the better this will get. It makes me chuckle to think that I'll have one milk guzzler (he still prefers it to food and we go through 3 gallons of milk a week - sometimes more!) and one that may not be interested in the white stuff.

Zoo on the School Bus

Xavi was so excited about this school outing. Mami went too and sat next to him on the school bus, plus he hung out with friend Aqeel (who has now moved to the Secret Garden Room with the big kids - so sad, really, Xavi is soooo sad). I couldn't tell what part he liked most: the ride on the bus, the zoo, having mami go with him (with no loud sister) or wearing the red field trip shirts!
